Middlesex Magic star forward, Connor Mahoney, committed to Le Moyne College today and accepted a full scholarship! The 6’5 senior has been a part of the Middlesex Magic for three years, and he captained a team this year that had incredible success regionally and nationally throughout the live recruiting period in July. Mahoney had a tremendous career wearing the Magic Blue and White, and he saved his best performance for when the lights shined brightest this summer at the AAU Super Showcase and National tournament. Mahoney had a strong summer overall, but in three consecutive games in Orlando he scored over 25 points and hauled in over 10 rebounds against top flight national competition. The word was out and Mahoney’s recruitment took off from there. He ended the recruitment today with a pledge to Le Moyne to join the Dolphins next September as a member of the class of 2016.
Middlesex Magic Director Michael Crotty Jr. was thrilled that Connor was able to make his decision and excited about his future, “Connor Mahoney is the total package. He is a leader, both vocally and by example, and he has an all-around game that I think will translate beautifully in the NE-10 Conference. Connor is an outstanding shooter, and fantastic defender, and one of the best rebounders I have ever coached. However, his understanding of the game and overall basketball IQ might be what separates him the most. Outside of basketball, Connor is one of the best people I have ever had the chance to be around, and I am certain that Le Moyne just received a commitment from a young man that will leave an indelible mark on the school both on and off the court. Connor will always be one of my favorites and I know great things are in store for him in his future.”
Mahoney selected Le Moyne after making his visit and feeling great about Le Moyne and the direction of the school and the men’s basketball program. Mahoney enjoyed getting to know Head Coach Steve Evans, as well as assistant coach, Mike Smiley, who is also a Middlesex Magic alum! Mahoney is now focused on having a terrific senior season with Magic teammates Aaron Davis and Anthony Barry as they prepare for their final year together at the Brooks school.
Everyone in the Middlesex Magic family wants to congratulate Connor and his family, and wish him nothing but the best this year and the following four years at Le Moyne!
